Apple is planning for a big AI push in 2024 and we might see more than just a new iOS version and chatbot from the company.AI

Apple has begun testing its AI tool ‘Ask’ with support staff, similar to ChatGPT.

Apple is poised to enter the AI arena in a big way this year, and it looks like iPhone users won’t be the only ones getting a taste of what’s to come. The company has reportedly begun testing a new AI feature with its support staff that can help answer customer questions.

New reports coming out this week suggest that Apple is training an AI tool called “Ask” from its internal database to respond to complex and unknown problems that Apple customers may have. It looks like Ask is an AI chatbot like ChatGPT but only serves Apple users.

Internal testing with support staff is probably Apple’s way of testing its capabilities and seeing if the chatbot grows enough to handle these complaints without asking the customer to contact a human manager.

For now, Apple is testing Ask with a small group of its support staff or advisors, and gradually it will open up the service to more of its staff team. So far, the AI tool, similar to ChatGPT, has been fed copied material as it crawls Apple’s internal database to provide answers. These advisors can rate the answers as helpful or unhelpful and have the option to ask up to 5 questions to follow up on the topic.

The company uses internal information that is likely to convince customers of its credibility and get factual answers from the AI chatbot. Artificial intelligence will be Apple’s focus in 2024, and the next edition of WWDC 2024 this year is likely to confirm these rumors.

Siri is expected to get a big AI boost, while Apple may also have a new AI chatbot called Apple GPT, according to reports. It goes without saying that iOS 18 will also be an AI-centric success that will keep all iPhones excited about what Apple has to offer.
